Austin Climate and Lot Conditions
The Austin metro sits on the Balcones Escarpment where the Hill Country limestone meets the coastal plain. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 100°F, often for 40-60 day stretches. Annual rainfall averages only 34 inches — and most of it falls in unpredictable spring and fall events rather than summer. During the critical summer lawn-care window, natural grass in Austin goes dormant or dies without substantial irrigation. The city’s Level 2 restrictions limit outdoor watering to twice per week — not enough to maintain a quality lawn in August.

Tarrytown and Pemberton Heights
Tarrytown is one of Austin’s most prestigious established neighborhoods — large lots, mature trees, and homes that carry significant property values. The mature tree canopy creates a layered challenge: shade prevents natural grass from establishing, but the root competition and leaf litter make alternatives difficult too. Our turf installs handle both conditions — shade-tolerant, leaf-clean installation designed for canopy environments.
Westlake Hills and Rollingwood
Westlake Hills and Rollingwood sit in the Hill Country on the west side of Austin — limestone-bedrock estates with stunning views and significant lot sizes. The thin topsoil over limestone creates extreme drought conditions even in normal rainfall years. City of Austin water restrictions apply citywide, but Westlake Hills also draws from the LCRA, which has its own conservation protocols. Our installs start with a proper aggregate base over the limestone, creating a level, draining surface that performs regardless of rainfall.
Barton Hills and South Austin
Barton Hills is one of Austin’s most sought-after South Austin neighborhoods — proximity to Barton Springs, excellent schools, and a tight-knit community. Lots are a mix of renovated bungalows on small lots and newer luxury builds on larger terrain. Both scenarios benefit from turf: smaller lots get a manicured look with zero maintenance; larger properties eliminate the mowing and irrigation overhead that Austin summers demand.
